Geek Life Lately is officially back, it’s Obi-Wan Kenobi day aka Wednesday and Summer is here. It’s all happening here at Cuteek. 😅 I can’t believe we’re more than halfway through the month already.
I heard a noise outside that sounded like nail clippers. Went to the window to check and there is a man casually clipping his fingernails in the street. 😂
- Hatched a little Wynaut from a 5km eggie in Pokémon Go
- reggae music + Sunday afternoons = winning combo
- Ring light acquired
Warner Bros have announced the new Barbie film for July 21st 2023 and shared a photo of a very blonde Ryan Gosling on their Twitter account. The general vibe is that he looks a bit off and not like any of our Ken dolls when we were younger, but I’m guessing we’re all going to watch anyway. What do you think of this live action Ken?
Meet My Dogs
I made a short video introducing our family dogs Chester and Cooper. I love being a dog auntie to them, they are so cute. 😍
- Just discovered The Floor Is Lava on Netflix. I remember playing this as a kid, now they made it a real thing.
- Watched The Black Eyed Peas concert in Cairo, Egypt on tv. What an incredible show and beautiful backdrop of the pyramids! I didn’t realise how many of BEP’s songs are on my playlist. Some bangers!
- Watched What If? on HBO. It’s always nice to see Daniel Radcliffe star in other films than Harry Potter and a nice surprise to see Adam Driver play a funny non Sith guy. This was a typical cheesy friends turn to lovers romcom. Perfect for lazy siesta time.
RING FIT ADVENTURE
Yesterday I reached Level 41 in Ring Fit Adventure! It was arm day and a battle with the terrifying Red Scuttleknell crab monster. My arms feel strong though! I hit 400 Bow Pull reps too.
This morning I reached Level 42 on Ring Fit Adventure today I fought the Absploder monster and now I am absolutely shattered with the heat. I treated myself to a nice homemade brunch afterwards.
I also made a fun TikTok and YouTube Short of Tipp the Ring Fit Trainer doing the Louis Theroux Jiggle Jiggle Challenge.
YOGA MASTER NINTENDO SWITCH
Did my first Yoga Master practice today on the Nintendo Switch. I like it and will share a review once I’ve played a bit more. I had no space on my Switch so I had to do a quick digital declutter of games I’m not playing and demos just so I could do the update. My yoga mat was so dusty and I needed to swiffy the floor before I started. I had all of the excuses today but I got there in the end. I’ll be playing some more of this over the weekend.
NINTENDO SWITCH SPORTS
A new ice-cream collection was released on Nintendo Switch Sports today, it’s all very cute! I just wish I could unlock something other than random accessories. I did get the Twin Buns hair though so I was happy with that.
STREAMING IS BACK!
I decided to do some short test streams on YouTube today of Fall Guys and Star Wars Battlefront 2015. There was no commentary because summer is definitely here and I had no intention of sweating under my headset.
I just streamed directly from the Playstation 4 to YouTube from the sofa Fall Guys was fun and I can’t wait for more people to experience the game when it’s free to play from June 21st.
There’s going to be a whole new wave of people playing it for the first time and that brings a lot of buzz and excitement to the game. I’m also looking into fitness gaming streams as I think that could be a so fun to do, I’ll keep you posted on that.
After Fall Guys I wanted to take a look at Star Wars Battlefront 2015 which I haven’t played in a long while. I watch E playing it all the time and love the atmosphere of the game and of course it’s Star Wars but I’m so crap at FPS games it hurts haha.
A couple of people dropped in for a lurk on both streams and the connection seemed ok so I will probably be back soon with Fall Guys and commentary. I can’t use my elGato at the moment as it’s incompatible with my MacBook Air.
Social Media and Tech News
Twitter is still the only social media I’m keeping open, I count TikTok as a video sharing platform along with YouTube as surprisingly I’m not so sucked into those apps for hours, rather they spark my creativity.
I did open my Instagram the other day to delete some stuff, old stories and that. I admit I was ‘very’ close to bringing my IG back and just uploading Reels. But as soon as that icky feeling came creeping back that Instagram gives me I knew I had to deactivate again. So that’s where we are with that.
I’m getting used to the Notes app on my iPhone again. It makes it easier to sit down at my laptop and copy it over into the blog.
Instagram and NFTs a combo made in hell
Do we need anymore reasons not to avoid Instagram? There’s a new feature in the works so influencers can give their followers FOMO by showing off their NFT collection as well as their beach pics. The Digital Collectibles will be visible using AR (augmented reality) Great, I can see where this is going and I’m glad I only have to use it for work.
Remember when MySpace suddenly came to an end? I have a feeling that someday social media won’t be what it is now. With the NFT world growing stronger (I’m not at all interested in NFTs by the way), VR and the META universe I reckon social media as we know it today will disappear.
Instead of tweeting from our phone we’ll be going into VR and getting that message across instead and smartphones as they are now will be how we now see the NOKIA 3310. What will stay the course? Websites. Just some thoughts.
Adios Internet Explorer
Microsoft are officially closing down Internet Explorer this week. Goodbye old pal.
I’m currently 50% done with This is Me by Mrs Hinch. I will do a post soon about my 2022 reading list. It was originally going to be a summer TBR reading list but I’ve since added quite a few more books to the list.
Thanks for reading, I hope you enjoyed this chonky version of Geek Life Lately. I’d love to know what you think of any of the topics covered this week in the comments below.
