The Life List (2025)

Two hearts. One journey. Destiny sails with them.

When her mother sends her on a quest to complete a teenage bucket list, a young woman uncovers family secrets, finds romance and rediscovers herself.

So it took me two sittings to watch The Life List on Netflix. Maybe I’ve seen too many romcoms at this point but I found it very predictable.

Also I spent the whole film convinced that the Mom character was Laura Dern. It isn’t. It’s Connie Britton who I’ve seen in other shows like Zero Day and I also thought I was watching Laura Dern. I wonder if the two have ever met?

The Life List trailer (beware, it kind of gives away the whole film lol)

The whole bucket list aspect of this film along with the DVD’s awarded after each task felt like an absolute rip off of the book / film P.S I Love You by Cecelia Ahern which was published in 2003. Now that’s a tearjerker of a film.

I didn’t recognize any of the other actors. I think we’ve already established that I’m terrible at that haha.

There are not one but TWO meet-cutes in this movie and while it seems to be a dead cert from the start who Alex ends up with there is a nice little twist.

I know it sounds like I didn’t enjoy this film but I think it’s probably because at this point I’ve seen it all before.

What I did like was the memory keeping of the DVD’s from Mom to daughter. As you know I’m big into journalling daily, even just a few lines, keeping ticket stubs and even making vlogs. Most of them are just me talking to my dogs and never make it to YouTube, but I think it’s important to capture these moments.

I also enjoyed seeing romance unfold and the excitement of when you first get together with someone.

I think you’ll enjoy this film if you’ve never seen P.S I Love You (if you haven’t make sure you read it or watch it and have tissues on hand) and if you love a bucket list style film this one is for you.

I try to be as spoiler free as possible in my tv and movie reviews. Also please remember I’m not a film journalist, I’m just a heavily opinionated blogger who doesn’t know who any of the actors are but they did do a great job.

Did you watch The Life List? What did you think?
