The Patrick Star Game is pure chaos in the best possible way. Imagine Goat Simulator set in Bikini Bottom and you’re pretty close to the experience. Patrick’s first starring adventure is a physics-based sandbox that encourages you to embrace the nonsense and see what happens. Patrick can explore Bikini Bottom, take on ridiculous challenges and cause mayhem using almost anything he can get his hands on.
Stepping Into Bikini Bottom
One of the things I enjoyed most was the art style. The world feels like stepping into an episode of SpongeBob SquarePants, and it was great to hear the original voice cast bringing the characters to life. Patrick, SpongeBob, Squidward, Mr. Krabs and the rest of the gang all make appearances throughout the adventure.
Ragdoll Physics and Angry Squidward
The game doesn’t take itself seriously for a second. Patrick ragdolls his way around Bikini Bottom completing silly side quests, causing accidental destruction and generally being a nuisance to Squidward. The physics-based gameplay often leads to hilarious moments, especially when things don’t quite go according to plan.
While it hasn’t replaced some of my regular comfort games, I had a lot of fun with it and would like to spend more time exploring everything Bikini Bottom has to offer. If you’re a fan of SpongeBob and enjoy open-world sandbox games that focus on fun rather than challenge, this one is definitely worth a look.
