Browsing twitter I saw the trailer for the new Murder on the Orient Express film. I thought, that sounds familiar and I have some thoughts. So here is my Murder on the Orient Express reaction.
I thought the narrator had a familiar accent. Kept watching, noted that on Twitter everyone is glad that Johnny Depp is the victim. (Was the latest Pirates of the Caribbean film THAT bad?) So basically, there are some fancy people travelling through Europe on a steam train, a passenger is murdered and the rest are all under suspicion for murder.
Something about that steam train in the lurky blue light and snow makes the train look alive and evil in some way. Then the blood curdling scream!
The narrator continues and then the occupations of the passengers and ultimately murder suspects are displayed next to them in a very Cluedo, Sherlock, style. I even got some Professor Layton vibes from this. Something was familiar… the guy’s accent? Was he Belgian?
Then someone asks ‘And who are you?’
*immense fangirling commences*
I knew it!
‘My name is Hercule Poirot and I am probably the greatest detective in the world.’ ?
Ahhhhhhh of course! My brain was a bit slow to work it out but then I hadn’t read the original Agatha Christie books. I have however watched a few episodes of the Agatha Christie’s Poirot TV series back in the day. I also really enjoyed Agatha Christie’s ABC Murders game for PS4 where they used the David Suchet based character also.
Kenneth Branagh (Poirot) stars and directs in this new version alongside a star studded cast including Daisy Ridley and Penélope Cruz.
I LOVE that this is a classy looking thriller and can’t wait to watch it in the cinema, popcorn flying. Maybe I will need to take a notebook for my deductions. Haha. Note: I have no idea what happens in the book so this will be a surprise and something to look forward to after my Pretty Little Liars hangover.
Murder on the Orient Express is out in cinemas November 2017!

If you don’t know the story you’re in for a treat. It’s a classic Christie plot!

I wonder if they will change the plot from the book so that there are no spoilers for people not familiar with the story?
There are several versions of this book and they always stick to the same ending. Without giving too much away, they can’t change it too much!
Oh that’s interesting! Do you have an book recommendation that you think I will like? (obv not Orient Express lol) I’ve seen the film Evil under the Sun, played the PS4 game ABC Murders, so something other than those please. 🙂

I was just talking to my Mum and she said there was an older film version of Murder on the Orient Express but I think I’m going to wait until November 🙂
I pulled Murder on the Orient Express off my bookshelf just yesterday. (Perfect timing!) The trailer looks very classy and I’m definitely up for the film. . .unfortunately, I believe I know how it all ends thanks to watching the Classic Film adaptation when I was a kid.
Totally perfect timing! It does look VERY classy. There needs to be more detective/thriller films in this style! I completely missed all of the books/films in my childhood. I mainly read Enid Blyton books as a kid but can’t remember much. 🙂
I bought one of Agatha Christie’s novels but I haven’t read it yet. This seems like a cool movie and Daisy Ridley is in it! 😀

I watched the trailer before I read your comments and I did the same thing, wondering why the narrator sounded so familiar. I like the idea of this but I’m not sure this setting could hold my attention, unless it flashes back into their lives.
Yeah I totally get what you mean. Maybe we will get some kind of non-train flash back scenes to get a better idea of the characters and round them out a little…

I know what you mean with there not being enough hours in the day LOL. Have you seen the new mini series of ‘And Then There Were None’? It’s a 3 parter and really good. Watching that might get you back into reading.
