Cady Heron is a hit with the Plastics, an A-list girl clique at her new school. But everything changes when she makes the mistake of falling for Aaron Samuels, the ex-boyfriend of alpha Plastic Regina George.
I have to be honest, I wanted to hate this film.
The original Mean Girls movie is one that I’ve seen a thousand times and I do not get tired of.
It’s a nostalgic masterpiece.
So when I was browsing Netflix and saw that the new Mean Girls musical movie was available, my curiosity was like ok, let’s see.
Like I said I wanted to hate it. How dare new actors come in and rehash one of my favourite films and try to make it the new Grease? But, they didn’t.

Here’s the trailer but I advise you skip it’s and go watch the film.
In fact Mean Girls the musical is like a love letter to the original. You can tell a lot of care had gone into the casting choice and no spoilers but adding in some of the OG cast was the cherry on the cake.
Whether you’re a die hard Mean Girls fan or like me you have seen it a thousand times, you will notice the whole film is sprinkled with easter eggs.
The songs add to the updated vibe they are going for and there are some changes to make it a little more PC, diverse, inclusive and current.
Some stuff definitely went over my head!
Can you believe that the original film was released in 2004? This is perfect for those who were around to see the original and those new to the story. In fact it might be interesting to see those two generations watching together.
Get in loser….
