My first time watching the original animated Lilo & Stitch was January 2025, which I absolutely adored. So when I saw the hype for the new Lilo & Stitch 2025 live action movie I just had to see it.
I’m not going to spoil or go into some big comparison of the two, just my thoughts.
It’s been ages since I went to the cinema! I think the last film I went to see was Strays (the film with the talking dogs), which released in 2023!
Watch the Lilo & Stitch 2025 Trailer:
Unfortunately the special edition Stitch drink bottles were all sold out because people had been going to the popcorn counter, buying them and leaving without watching the movie. No doubt to sell them on eBay. I didn’t mind, I have enough collectibles around my house lol.
Anyway the film was lovely. I found myself teary eyed a few times, others I was giggling at Agent Pleakley who was my favourite from the live action film. It was so nice to see the animated characters brought to life with the amazing scenery and culture of Hawaii. Stitch of course was even cuter and fluffier IRL with his usual mischief and beautiful friendship with Lilo.
I didn’t recognize any of the actors except for Zach Galifianakis so that was a nice surprise seeing him as Dr. Jumba Jookiba and a good choice. Jumba and Pleakly could probably have their own spin off haha. I also loved the sisterhood between Nani and Lilo, I did shed a tear during some of their more heartfelt scenes.
There were some silly parts but after all I am 40+ watching a Disney film so of course I’m not going to be catching every joke that was geared towards a 5yr old and vice versa.
I was expecting to see a volcano at some point but there was plenty of fire at the luau.
All in all I had a fun time and it was just nice to switch my phone off, stuff my face with popcorn and M&Ms and not think about the current state of the world for 90 minutes. I also have Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride song stuck in my head and I’m not mad about it. 🏄♀️
What’s the last film you saw at the cinema? Are you planning to watch the new Lilo & Stitch film? 🛸
