What do you love doing in your spare time? Do you have hobbies and interests you love to get stuck into but, but don’t usually have the opportunity. Well, the good news is that winter IS coming, and there’ll be plenty of cold, dark nights ahead that will give you the opportunity to indulge.
Even where I live in the Canary Islands the nights are drawing in and I’ve had to make some adjustments to my evenings to keep my motivation going.
Where will your passion lead you this winter? Take a look at some great suggestions of geeky winter activities to get you started.
Binge-watch your guilty pleasure
We all have a TV show or a movie series that we love, but not everyone gets. Finding someone to watch with you can be difficult, but winter is the perfect time to enjoy a bit of me-time watching the things you love. Put on your favourite series and indulge in your guilty pleasure. Need some inspiration? Check out some Netflix guilty pleasure shows that are worth a watch this winter. I’m loving The Good Place at the moment!
Discover a New Gripping Game
Playing games is a good way to avoid the cold and keep yourself busy on those long, dark evenings. If you’ve got friends who like to play games too, then even better. Classic role-playing games make a great activity for groups, and if you sign up for hot new RPG Deliverance, you’ll be the first to find out questions like ‘what do angels really look like?’ and more.
You’ve always got your console if you want to lose yourself in an online game, and having a headset to hand will make it easy to chat to your friends as you take advantage of the cold weather.

Learn Something New
Those winter nights are a good time for you to do the things you love, but they’re also great for helping you discover new things too. Is there something you’ve wanted to learn like a skill or a language? What better time to learn than during the winter?
Whether you’re interested in learning code or how to use Photoshop, you’ll find some amazing free resources to help you along the way. By the New Year, you could have a fantastic new skill or hobby that can take you to some amazing places! No need to wait for New Year’s resolutions.
Do you have a talent or love to make things? Winter is a great time to get creative. Whether you want to make cool videos or write a blog, you’ll find that enjoying some creative time will help you de-stress after a long day at work and could lead to something great. This could be starting a bullet journal or finally starting a Youtube channel. Whatever your talent, take time to indulge in it this winter.
After a busy summer, it’s nice to take a step back and enjoy a bit of time for yourself. With plenty of excuses to stay in and indulge in your passions, you can already consider this winter well-spent. Plan some great nights in this winter where you can explore your passions further as well as discover some new ones. We always complain that there’s not enough time to do this or that, so make the time while it’s too cold to do much else!
