Hello there and welcome to Geek Life March 2024. A nerdy round up of stuff and goings on. ๐ŸŒธ

Geek Life Lately is now (again) the name of Cuteek’s newsletter and the latest issue just went out. There have been some changes around here you see. (Why did that sound like Hagrid’s voice in my head?) ๐Ÿ˜…

The Blog

It’s officially springtime and at Cuteek HQ I’ve been tinkering behind the scenes. This includes working on a new website design (ongoing), branding, bringing the newsletter back from the dead and rethinking the direction a little.

I still really enjoy doing these end of month wrap up posts but in general I want Cuteek to be less about me (I don’t really like to share anything too private after all) and more about all things cute and geeky. Going back to the origins of Cuteek you could say.

I believe it’s going to be a huge improvement and there are so many ideas to explore. One of them is getting other geeky, kawaii, nerdy, gaming creators involved. Stay tuned for that! ๐Ÿคช

Something I really enjoy is making YouTube content, so blending the blog with the channel a bit more is also on the cards. With the revamp of the site I was also looking at social media and where we are with that.

If I get the help of a virtual assistant, Cuteek may come back to certain socials, but the thought of ever going full time on social media like I was just doesn’t work for me. I don’t think many of us truly have time for the constant scrolling and keeping up, that’s one of the reasons I pulled back on social media in the first place.

My actual job is in content creation/social media in the travel niche, so It’s all too much to manage for one person and this is supposed to be a hobby after all. ๐Ÿ˜…

That said I have decided on a few select platforms and I will stick to those: here on Cuteek.com of course, YouTube, the newsletter, Pinterest and TikTok.

(TikTok is mainly so I can see the trends and re-upload my videos to YouTube Shorts haha.)

never miss another post from Cuteek ๐Ÿ‘‡ sign up for the Geek Life Lately newsletter:

Gaming

  • Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age PlayStation 5 – beautiful game that needs more attention in April.
  • Fall Guys PlayStation 5 – always fun playing this on stream with viewers.
  • Hogwarts Legacy PlayStation 5 – want to put some more hours into this in April.
  • Animal Crossing New Horizons Nintendo Switch – maybe one day my island will be tidy.
  • LEGO Fortnite PlayStation 5 – having so much fun with this!
  • Klonoa Door to Phantomile PlayStation 5 – nostalgia!
  • Ring Fit Adventure Nintendo Switch – this is my at home gym! So grateful to be back at it and feeling strong again.

Studying

Duolingo day 1,232 ๐Ÿ˜… Spanish or Vanish is no joke. Are you learning any languages?

Watching

  • The Swarm 1978 – bees everywhere! ๐Ÿ
  • The Godfather II – just wow! I have a lil crush on young Al Pacino!
  • The Admin Bar YouTube – learning about the new GeneratePress features and improving the website!
  • Poirot – a daily siesta time must watch mon ami.
  • Colombo – just getting into this, Colombo is such a character.
  • Don’t Worry Darling Movistar – this film kept me guessing to the very end and then some. If you like the 50’s era this is one for you.
  • Irish Wish Netflix – Was so good to see Lindsay Lohan in this cheesy film, the scenery was beautiful.
  • Acapulco Apple TV – Was late to the party with this, but super relatable having worked in hotels myself, plus it switches between Spanish and English. I can’t wait for season 3!

Reading

I actually finished reading 2 books in March! Go me.

  • The Little Book of Hygge by Meik Wiking – very cozy read!
  • The Four Hour Work Week by Tim Ferriss – an old version so I skipped a lot of it, I started reading this in 2021 so it was quite the achievement to finish it.

Quotes I enjoyed this month:

  • “Adventure is worthwhile in itself.” โ€”Amelia Earhart
  • โ€œEverything is possible. The impossible just takes longer.โ€ – Dan Brown
  • โ€œIf you light a lamp for somebody, it will also brighten your path.โ€ – Buddha

Listening

We ditched Spotify (along with Netflix and Disney+ ahhhh) this month so I’ve had to find all my fave podcasts back over on Apple. Here’s hoping April is super productive having scaled back on a lot of stuff.

I’ve gone back to listening to the radio on TuneIn and it’s a breath of fresh air tbh! How nice not to know which song will be played next, such a throwback.
