Getting Fit Before I Turn Forty!
How is it possible that I will be turning 40 later this year? 😂😭 I honestly can’t even. I decided it was a good time as any to really get myself sorted out. I’ve been told by 3 Drs to lose weight and that was before my Pandemic weight gain! I see this as the best birthday gift I could give to myself. 🥳

So this post is basically my plan to get Fit By 40, my goals and how I’m going to do it. I thought typing it into existence would be a good place to start. The fact that this has sat in blog drafts since 25th May annoys me but better late than never. It’s not all about weight loss, it’s mental fitness, skin care and anything else I feel like I need to work on. Why not hey?
Weight Loss
Just before the apocalypse, I went to the Dr and after some tests, he told me to hold off on the McDonalds and lose weight. At the time I was 4 kilos lighter than I am now. Last Summer I was also told twice to lose weight after having some other issues, so I feel like it’s stupid to ignore it any longer.
Skin Care
I recently had a bad reaction to one of the night creams I was using and as a result my face became very itchy, dry and 50% of my eyebrows just dropped out. Still waiting for them to grow back in, fingers crossed and thank god for eyebrow pencils! haha
I did an elimination of products and introduced stuff back in, until I figured out what it was. I have now started using Babaria’s Vitamin C Serum and Garnier Argan Oil along with a few other things.
Mental Health
With regards to my mental health, I’ve made a some big changes regarding social media which is one of the things that does my head in the most and makes me anxious.
You may have noticed that my instagram account is now zero followers and zero following. I’ve made it private, so that if anyone searches me, they will find my profile and a link to my Gallery which is were the photos I would have uploaded to Instagram now live.
I’ve unpublished the Facebook Business page for Cuteek and at the end of May I began daily blogging where I post there instead of Twitter, it often sparks a bigger idea and I end up writing a separate article as I begin to create more than I consume.
Each day has an On This Day section where I post old tweets and statuses before they are deleted for good on each platform. I have now also quit Twitter, I’m officially the blogger without social media! I stopped using TikTok a good while ago and now I upload YouTube Shorts alongside my other content.
My Fitness Guidelines + Workouts
Seeing as it worked for me last time, I will be modifying my goals and guidelines from when I did 100 Days of Fitness. Of course my workouts will include Fitness Gaming, I am seeing already seeing some toning results with Ring Fit Adventure.
This is all subject to my health as I still have some kidney issues, it gets very hot here and there’s no way I’m healthily able to workout in 35ºC degrees. Those days I will hydrate and eat light.
- Start the morning with at least 15 mins on my exercise bike.
- Level Up at least once on Ring Fit Adventure per day.
- Early morning / Evening walks.
- Yoga with Adriene for a good stretch and meditation.
- Up To The Beat for short indoor walks.
- Dance Parties and Workouts by GrowWithJo.
- Drink more water.
- No fizzy drinks at all.
- No chocolate at all.
- More fruit and veggies.
- Healthy snacking only.
- Standing up from my desk every hour and doing a quick chore or stretch.
I figure this is a good start and I may make some changes along the way. I have been taking before and after photos but I’m not ready to share any just yet. I might share them after 1 month of work.
Goals and First Weigh-In
STARTING WEIGHT: My starting weight is 76.5kg which is too much for my height of 5ft 3″.
GOAL: The goal is to get down to 63kg by the time I turn 40 in November.
I will share my Weight and Measurements twice a month as a way to encourage myself. I’ve barely lost any weight in a month but I can see my stomach is definitely more toned and I’ve lost inches. Since the scales aren’t moving, I’ll be keeping an eye on measurements.

I’m feeling stronger, muscles are toning up in the top of my back and tummy. I always seem to feel heavier when my muscles are aching anyway. In between my first two sets of measurements I had my first vaccine and I was sick as a dog. No workouts were possible for about 4 days and I comfort ate.

Ok so there have been some changes, I had my second vaccine and I did have some side effects but not as bad as the first and only for 24 hours. Some bad eating habits reared and due to a heatwave I couldn’t physically workout except for short walks at night.
My Fiancé is back at work for the first time since we had lockdown in March 2020. It’s a new job so we are now in the process of converting from night owls to early birds. The plus side of this is I’m up before sunrise and have found a running track to do some early morning power walking before breakfast.
Time to work a bit harder. I’ve been reading and I think I’m going through body recomposition right now. My weight has gone up a little but my muscles are feeling stronger. I think I need to give this Adam Bryant bike workout another try.
