Summer is here and don’t we know it. When I’m not at the beach enjoying a swim, I’m keeping cool indoors with my Dyson bladeless fan. Dyson’s bladeless desk fan is also allowing myself and my BF to get a decent sleep during these warm and balmy nights.
Dyson Cool AM06
I was first introduced to the Dyson AM06 at an event at the Trafford Centre in Manchester. A select few bloggers, including myself had the privilege of hearing from one of Dyson’s engineers about the technology behind the creation of the bladeless fan.
Prior to this, I was already familiar (and impressed) with the Dyson Airblade hand dryers that can be found at Disneyland Paris, so I was super excited to try out my first Dyson product.
Looking Good
The first thing that strikes me about it is the design. Modern and sleek, it fits right into my home and my family think it’s ‘cool’ (pun intended). The remote control is a nifty touch, especially at night, allowing me to control the speed as well as oscillation and power.
There is also a timer, so I can get to sleep easily without having to worry about turning it off, although it’s currently so hot, we have it running all night. I keep the remote on my bedside at night, otherwise it’s held magnetically at the top of the fan, when not in use. I must also note, it’s so easy to put together, just a click of the base and the hoop and away you go!
Quiet and Easy to Clean
The two most important features for me personally are the fact there are no blades (making it so simple to clean and gives a smoother air flow) and how quiet it is. The hoop and base are wiped clean in seconds with a damp cloth and there are no awkward cages or blades to contend with.
I’m happy to report that my light sleeper of a BF is getting on very well with the AM06, as this was my main concern. It goes to show why this fan won the Quiet Mark award and it is 75% quieter than previous models.
How does it work?
• Air is drawn in by an energy-efficient, brushless motor.
• It is accelerated through an annular aperture, passing over an airfoil-shaped ramp, which draws in further air and channels its direction.
• As the air accelerates through the loop amplifier surrounding air is also drawn in.
• This creates and projects powerful, smooth, high velocity airflow. This is a combination of the technologies used in turbochargers and jet engines.
Overall I’m very impressed with this unit and would recommend it to anyone looking to invest in a quiet, powerful and dust free fan with a modern look that’s also safe for small hands and paws.
