The one where I study live on my iPad, tackle tricky object pronouns, and chat with fellow language learners about a future Language Roulette challenge. 🦉
Following my usual Duolingo updates, I decided to switch things up and host a casual, live “study with me” session on my channel called Spanish or Vanish.
Episode 1: Kicking Off March Fresh
In this first livestream, I logged into Duolingo on my iPad to tackle Section 5, Unit 13 using the present tense. I was working with a massive 1,021-day streak and a full set of five hearts, focusing on travel-related dialogue and indirect/direct object pronouns.
I also talked a bit about sharing exclusive app features on my channel, like the Duolingo Radio feature in Spanish, which a lot of users don’t have access to yet!

How useful is it for real Spanish?
This lesson loaded up on excellent phrases for real-world travel, like handling upgrades (ofrecerles otro boleto) or booking flights. The real challenge of this unit was balancing pronouns like les (to them) and las (them, feminine).
I even had to break out my favorite Duolingo study tip mid-stream: writing down the phrases you get wrong in a physical notepad so they actually stick!
Duolingo Language Roulette Challenge
Practicing Spanish is a major part of my daily routine, but during the stream, we talked about introducing a fun new twist to the series: a “Language Roulette” challenge!
The plan is to select a brand-new language completely at random and attempt to beat the absolute basics and first levels live on stream. Because I live in the Canary Islands, trying out German, Norwegian, or even Arabic came up as highly requested challenges by the live chat. It’s going to be a fun way to test out the game’s mechanics on a fresh save file.
