5 Geeky iPhone Apps

It’s Friday which means it’s time for 5 Fandom Friday where you can get to know a little bit more about me and the things I obsess and geek about.

Thanks to The Nerdy Girlie and SuperSpaceChick for coming up with the idea!

So this week it’s all about geeky iPhone apps. I thought it was a little obvious to mention Twitter, Facebook and Instagram so let’s delve a little deeper into my favourite time wasters on my iPhone.

5 Geeky iPhone apps

1. Timehop

Besides having an adorable dinosaur as the app mascot, Timehop digs into your past statuses, photos and links you’ve shared on social media over the years. Each day just tap on the little dino guy and he will show you what you were doing each year since you’re web presence began.

It’s pretty cool to see, for example this time 6 years ago I was in Madrid, 5 years ago I was in Paris. You can then reshare across Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. If you don’t have much going on, there’s always a ‘news from the past’. Did you know 12 years ago today Kermit the Frog received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame? No I didn’t either. 🙂

2. Google Adsense App

This one is pretty self explanatory. If you have a Google adsense account, the app allows you to keep an eye on your earnings whilst you are on the go. You can see which ads and urls are working for you and stats from your last payment to your current total.

3. Family Guy The Quest For Stuff

I don’t play many games on the go, but one I play religiously every day without fail is Family Guy TQFS. I’m such a geek for the Griffins so this tap style game is right up my street. With all the in jokes from the show, the characters and special events, this is my favourite mobile game of the year.

I’ve written up a couple of tips and hints here if you are just getting started or need a little nudge. The only downside to this game is that I love collecting everything, (my Animal Crossing New Leaf town is a fine example of my hoarding) and plenty of items call for in-app purchases or saving up clams like a maniac. I’m still trying to unlock Consuela….no, no.

4. Tagg.ly

A while ago I was looking for an app that would quickly watermark my iPhone snaps before I uploaded them to social media. I found an awesome photography app called Tagg.ly, which I heard about on Mashable. Tagg.ly is a very easy to use app that adds text (such as your @ name or url) to the bottom left of a photo and logo to the top right.
It’s handy if you are on the go and really want to post a photo to twitter, instagram, facebook anywhere online. If you want to make sure you are getting the credit for your work, then you should check this app out.

5. tvtag

One of my favourite apps is tvtag. It allows me to keep up and follow all my fandoms on tv such as Once Upon a Time, The Vampire Diaries, Under the Dome and Resurrection. tvtag was previously called GetGlue, which used to reward users with stickers if they checked into their fave shows when they aired in the US. Now it’s just a great app for keeping track of which episode you need to see next, chat with other people in your fandom and get the latest info. There are occasionally virtual stickers but I’m not so bothered about those.

All of the apps mentioned in this post are free!
