2025 Reading Challenge

๐Ÿ“š Looking for my latest updates? Check out My 2026 Reading Challenge to see what I am currently reading right now! ๐Ÿš€

I’ve been taking part in Goodreads Reading Challenge every year since 2014. For my 2025 reading challenge I want to read 7 books.

How Many Books?

Why 7? I like the number 7, it’s more than 5 and less than 10. I think it’s an achievable reading goal. As a slow reader with ADHD I tend to pick up too many books at the same time. Having about 15 books in my currently reading pile all at 20% is a ‘normal’ thing for me and I want to break this habit.

Which Books Are Included?

Part of this year’s goal is to focus (or try to) on one book at a time. Books with about 300 pages are the sweet spot for me, but I’ll also include graphic novels in my challenge. I would add the back of shampoo bottles to this challenge if I could lol.

How To Read More This Year

It’s always good to start off with a page turner for the first book of the year. What was yours?

Let’s keep it simple by setting a goal of reading one chapter each night. The point is to take something away from what I read rather than speed through them and forget anything that might have been helpful and immerse myself in new worlds.

Reorganizing your TBR pile might also help you read more in 2025.

Books I Read in 2025

To hold myself accountable, I’ve tracked every book from my list below, complete with quick wrap-up thoughts and links to full reviews.

๐Ÿ“Š My 2025 Reading Summary (5 Finished / 2 DNF)

Goal Status: Completed! Reached my target of 7 books (5 fully finished and 2 officially moved to the DNF pile!). ๐ŸŽฏ
Habit Tracker: Successfully fought off the ADHD urge to keep 15 books half-read at the same time! ๐Ÿง

๐Ÿค“ Finished in 2025

๐Ÿ“– The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien
An absolute classic fantasy journey and a perfect page-turner to start the challenge.

๐Ÿ“– Annie Bot by Sierra Greer
A fascinating read about AI that kept me turning pages all night long.

๐Ÿ“– Dog Man by Dav Pilkey
Pure fun! Read my full thoughts over on my internal Dog Man Book Review post. ๐Ÿถ

๐Ÿ“– Eruption by Michael Crichton and James Patterson
A fast-paced, blockbuster-style disaster story that was impossible to put down.

๐Ÿ“– Martin Misunderstood by Karin Slaughter
An incredible crime thriller with a massive twist that completely caught me off guard.

๐Ÿ›‘ Did Not Finish (DNF)

๐Ÿ“– Pet Sematary by Stephen King
King’s writing was actually too incredible here; the supernatural stuff didn’t scare me, but the raw human grief leaking through the pages made me shut the book for good. ๐Ÿ›‘

๐Ÿ“– Everything I Know About Love by Dolly Alderton
Decided to drop it to protect my reading energy and reclaim my focus!
