Hey cute geeks, it’s time for an update in the Geek Life November 2017 edition.
As you might notice, things are looking a little different around here. Cuteek now has a new look and I’m so pleased. It’s inspiring me to create more blog posts. Yay! Grab a hot drink and let’s get into what I’ve been up to.
Before we get stuck into what went on in November, let me just catch you up with October. I totally meant to write a post about that but life got in the way haha. So back in October I flew to (a very Autumnal) England to look after my Mum as she had a hysterectomy and needed help during recovery.
My Mum’s doing much better now, getting out and about although she still needs more surgery. After two weeks my kidneys were really giving me jip. I was exhausted. The plan was to spend 2 weeks at my parent’s home and then fly back home to Gran Canaria to stay in a hotel in Taurito with my Fiancé, brother, sister and families.
While my Mum was recovering in hospital, my nephew was rushed in with a burst and gangrenous appendix! He had surgery and started recovery but was due to fly out on holiday as I mentioned just a week after surgery. When he was discharged from hospital the surgeon said if he felt well enough he could fly and to take it easy, which he did.
I have to mention that when I arrived at my parents house, waiting for me was this super sweet package from Stacey for Do Something Nice Day. How cute are the things! There was a mini Mars too but I gave that to my nephew and he devoured it before I had chance to take a pic haha. Thanks again Stacey, you are a star!
October was also the month of eating ALL OF THE GOODIES! I had my first Pumpkin Spice Latte at Starbucks and couldn’t resist eating copious amounts of gingerbread cookies. The adorable spooky Scooby Doo cookie featured in the top image was from Greenhalghs bakery.
I flew back home and the day after we checked into the Lago Taurito Hotel to enjoy some family time and some yummy all inclusive food. The kids loved it because it’s right by the beach and there is a water park bang smack in the middle of the valley with free entrance for Paradise hotel guests. The pic below is the view from our balcony and of course had to get the geeky fashion in there with my Bored Now vest top from Prophecy Girl.
My nephew was in a wheelchair because he was still resting so he obviously couldn’t go on any of the slides or into the water. A few days later his appendix wound had become infected and so we rushed him to hospital where he stayed for a week. The poor lad had more surgery!
To cut a long story short, October and the start of November were pretty hectic and although we had some nice quality time with family here and there I was feeling drained physically and mentally. Halloween was great because that was the day my nephew was discharged from hospital and we all watched a show together at the hotel, my sister also won loads of prizes playing bingo.
So then we head into November which started great as it was my birthday and my sister treated me to a cleansing facial at a nearby spa. It was INCREDIBLE and really got rid of a lot of tension. After that lovely facial we headed down to the beach for some birthday brownies at Lola Ville Diner and then had a few games of pool.
I headed home after that and had an early night catching up on Stranger Things 2 with a huge bowl of popcorn. Because my sister won so many prizes playing bingo, she didn’t have time to use them all before she flew home so she gave my Fiancé and I the spa tickets.
We spent several hours at Krabi Spa and it was the most relaxing thing ever! We sweated it all out in the sauna, enjoyed jacuzzis, crazy ice cold bucket showers and warm jet waterfalls in the spa pool. It was just what we needed.
As far as gaming I played a LOT of Super Mario Odyssey on Nintendo Switch but not nearly enough. I get sidetracked far too easily and end up taking screenshots instead of playing haha. The details are just amazing, my favourite land is Tostarena, I could live there! Have you played Super Mario Odyssey yet? How many moons do you have?
TV + Films
While I was in England, I got my Mum and Dad ‘hooked’ (get it?) on Once Upon a Time. We had this nightly ritual of making hot chocolate and scoffing the aforementioned gingerbread as we watched a couple of episodes of season 1.
I’m sure you will agree Stranger Things 2 was just epic! I can’t wait to see a third season and see what they come up with next. I’d love to see a Back to the Future style episode where they meet their future selves.
What have you been watching lately?
It’s not a trip to England without a sneaky trip to Waterstones.
I picked up Editing Emma by Chloe Seager which is currently on my TBR pile as I’m trying to finish a couple other books first. What are you reading at the moment?
