Zumba Fitness Rush XBOX - Coming Soon!

With only days to go until the much awaited release of Zumba Fitness Rush on XBOX Kinect, there have been some teasers and tv spots popping up on Youtube.

Last year the Nintendo Wii got the second installment of the Zumba game series and those with Kinect have had to wait. I think best things come to those that wait as personally I would prefer not to be wearing a belt with the wiimote in a pocket, the way I move around when I'm working out on the Kinect it would go flying.

Things I'm looking forward to on the new Zumba game are songs by artists I like such as Pitbull and just new music in general really. I did enjoy all the songs on the original Zumba game but I think after playing it so much they become a bit monotonous.

Zumba Add on packs (DLC's)
Another excellent feature of Zumba Rush is the add-on packs which will allow you to download new songs to add to the game using XBOX marketplace. Majesco say the first pack will roll out in May and will be a 3 track Bollywood pack, then in September a Hip Hop add-on pack will be released, with songs from popular artists! These packs will each cost 400 Microsoft Points, which I think is totally worth it, as you can keep freshening up your game with new tracks that you like. For example, I will probably lean more toward the Hip Hop tracks or Reggaeton as I like to just really work it out and go crazy.

Release Dates
I have pre-ordered Zumba Fitness Rush already and release dates are 13th February for US and 24th February for EU. It really can't come quick enough, but I suppose in a couple of days there will be some more gameplay videos online. I found this one featuring Pitbull's song 'Pause'.

Instagram Tricks

Instagram is quickly gaining popularity, I was late to the party but a little trick I have picked up might be very useful to you. So if you don't already know, Instagram is a funky photo sharing app, currently only available for the iPhone and iPad. With it you can then share your photo to many social networks such as Facebook (wall or fan page), Twitter, Flickr and a couple other places. I love it because, I feel like all my photos are in one place, instead of uploading separately to Twitter then Tumblr and so on. I would say Instagram is the Twitter for photos.

So the trick I would like to share with you is that when you sign up to instagram, make sure you pick the same username as you have for Twitter. That way, when you are tagged in a photo, it will link in with your Twitter account, otherwise the @tag will either send it to someone randoms profile, or, to an empty account. Plus, it will help your fans, readers and friends to find you more easily.

In fact this is a good ethic to have online when creating a brand, whether it be a big company or a small blog. Your blog name, (in my case Cuteek) should also represent your Twitter, Youtube, Flickr and Tumblr. Oh and Pinterest... (small obsession maybe?)

Ok so what if you don't have an iPhone? Borrow a friends really quick just to make one, at least that way you will have one when you are ready. I think this could apply to most social networks. I heard that somewhere in the US parents were claiming their unborn children's Twitter names in advance! Maybe that's going a bit far, but then I do have a Twitter account for my dog...

P.s another sweet instagram trick is a site called Statigram, which you sign in with your instagram details and you can manage your account from your computer. You can make screenshots of your stats, see who is favouriting your pics and it makes commenting a bit easier if you don't get on well with the smaller buttons on your phone.

I almost forgot! So I was looking for a widget to share my instagram pics on my blog, (if you scroll to the bottom of the screen you will see it) and I found one on SnapWidget, so far so good. It's customizable, allowing you to use photos from a certain username or hashtag and different sizes. There is no sign up and it's totally free.

Crafty Crush: Detergent Cap Cupcake Pincushion

I found this tutorial on how to make a cupcake pincushion out of a detergent cap. It's typical that I'm thinking about cupcakes when I'm 'trying' to eat healthy (she says eating a KitKat).

It looks a bit bare at the end but once you put pins in with coloured ends, they look like sprinkles. This would make a cute gift or addition to your sewing kit, but will probably also make you hungry for frosted treats.

The Pink Tinkerbell Ford KA 1.3 car above was for sale on eBay UK a while ago but the auction has since ended for this barbielicious pinktastic custom spray car.

Tinkerbell fans take note, or Disney fans in general. This Pink and black Ford KA car was listed on eBay Uk but it was snapped up very quickly.

The bidding was at £1,230.00 with 5 bids, which is an absolute bargain when you take into consideration the hard work which has gone into the custom pink and black paint job.

The sides of the car had a pink Tinkerbell decal with "Powered by Fairy Dust" written on it.

This Pink Ford Ka car is no longer available but there are more pink ford Ka cars on ebay right now!

Primark: Saint or Sinner Eyeshadow Palette

I've been meaning to post about this eyeshadow palette from Primark for a while now. I received it as a gift just after Christmas and it's a really funky box. It's called Saint or Sinner, down to the colours on offer. Some lighter pastels with glitter 'Princess','Spear' and some darker shades like 'Moss' and 'Galaxy'.

I tried out a swatch on my hand over Primark's 'Prime of your Life' Primer (which is fab) and was quite surprised at the outcome. The colours that I took more fancy to, the pastels, came out a bit, shall we say talc-y? The darker shades, particularly 'Galaxy' were really pigmented and I think I'm going to have to apply it to my eye and post another photo as the pic I took of my hand didn't do it justice.

This is the lid of the palette, which is magnetized and inside the eyeshadow can lift out when you are done, so you can store little bits, like earrings.

I just love the eye makeup on this eye, although I don't think the colours inside the palette will help me achieve the look. To be continued....

Remember a few posts ago when I wrote about this quirky Barbie sweater that was almost hideous but amazing at the same time? Well I was so pleased to find my very own Barbie hoodie in Primark yesterday! It's not like the one mentioned above but it's sugary pink and has a ponytail Barbie print.

I was on my own in the shop and I'm pretty sure I squealed out loud when I saw it! Oh well, I don't think I've ever thrown anything into my Primark basket so fast in my life! I knew that it would fit well, as I bought a Spongebob Squarepants hoodie in the same style a few weeks ago and that is a fitted hoodie too.

As mentioned in Page 5 of 366, I've started collecting Happy Meal 'My Little Ponys'. My first one was Pinkie Pie, in fact I got 2 of those, then I got Twilight Sparkle and last night I acquired 2 Fluttershys.

That's my little update for today, oh I almost forgot to mention that I found a Sharpay's Fabulous Adventure notebook in Disney Store for only 3€ in the sale. It's so sparkly and pink, with Boi on the back cover. I've started using it for one of my new projects to keep my ideas in order. Also today I downloaded iMovie to my iPad, so I will start to make some videos soon, probably of my dolls and toys so for more of that head over to my doll/toy blog Pimp My Barbie.

Sorority Life Fairytale Adventure

Sorority Life has a new study abroad on the way called Fairytale Adventure! I just can't wait even though I only completed 50% of Moscow! The first I knew of the new Study Abroad was the Fairytale Figurine in my gifts and I thought yay, a new destination.

Collect and gift your sisters with the Fairy Figurine so you can pack for Fairytale Adventure, then as you complete events you may notice the new tickets which will be in use for study abroad events called Golden Tickets. Hmm, is there a Willy Wonka tie in here? I hope so! I can't seem to find any other clues yet, but I'll keep looking.

Have you seen this Barbie sweater?!! Ok, so I recently joined Pinterest, it's pretty cool - so far I've gotten some pretty great ideas on what to do with old crayons. If you haven't used or heard of Pinterest, it's basically a virtual cork board. A bit like Tumblr in a sense, but I think better where you repin things you like or upload your own content.

Anyway, today I was idly searching for Barbie in Pinterest when I came across this wonderful Barbie sweater, which MCBF says 'It looks like it fell on the floor and absorbed everything around it'. That's one way of describing it!

I've tracked it down to a Tumblr called Sexy-sweaters and sadly it's not an actual sweater but a photoshopped image! Hats off to the creator because I was all prepared to buy this beauty. It's so fabulous but hideous at the same time and this is exactly what I want to wear!

Some one please make this happen!

In other news, I went to the beach today for a walk, sounds healthy but I had a huge slab of apple cake beforehand and ate a whole bowl of popcorn to myself whilst watching Lindsay Lohan and Tyra Banks in a doll film called Eve. (dolly fans watch this)

One of my aims is to try and keep all my blogs as updated as possible for the New Year.

So I thought I would use the 'Page x of 366' as the title for these blogs which are a bit more personal (don't worry not too personal) and not really gaming, product related.

Today was a 'Happy' day, me and MCBF went for a McDonalds, in the queue I noticed the Happy Meal display to see what toys were on offer (as you do when you are a 30yr old), I squealed like a 5yr old when I saw Pokemons, but next to them was something more magical!

Poniezzzzz!

I was so excited and left MCBF in the queue as I grabbed 'a good table', when he came back he had also ordered the 'girly Happy Meal' so we could get 2 My Little Pony's. After almost launching my cheeseburger and fries to the other side of the table, at the bottom of the box I saw Pinky Pie! I'm not sure how Happy Meals toy rotation works in your country, but here in Spain, you have the same toy for a week, then another is released. So, I was pretty happy to get 2 Pinky Pie ponies, one of them I opened and put on the shelf with my Blythe dolls.

Tomorrow in Spain is 3 Kings Day, which is the big present day like Christmas Day is so there were parades in most of the villages as the 3 Kings bring gifts tonight (like Santa does on Christmas Eve). I curled up on the sofa and watched the huge parade in Madrid, which could honestly rival a Disney parade! So you may have guessed that all the Christmas decorations are still up and the sales haven't really started yet.

I'm not really one for sales, not like these hardcore people I heard about in the UK, who got up half an hour before they went to bed on Boxing Day to go to NEXT. If there is a bargain for me, I will find it. There's nothing I really need anyway, I'm a gadget consumer more than a fashion gal so I'd be happier with a video game than a pretty dress.

Oh speaking of videogames, I'm super excited about the future release of Zumba Fitness Rush for the Kinect! I have already mentioned it in a previous post but I found it on Amazon for pre-order. I really want to get back into Zumba, it just does something to me. If you are into it, you will know what I mean, it gives me a total high and I get addicted to it when I'm focused.

This is turning into a really long post, I should start Vlogging! Speaking of which, one of my favourite Youtubers 'iJustine' is on The Vampire Diaries tonight as a bartender! Wowee, she is so lucky and that is so cool, I can't wait to watch TVD after what seems like a lifetime.

On the subject of Youtubers I've also been watching some of Toby Turner's older vlogs which are shorter than his Lazy Vlogs but just as dry humoured and funny. Olga Kay is my latest fave Youtuber, she is from Russia living in USA and used to perform in a circus, she's not fake and she's pals (or more) with Toby.

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood XBOX mini review

I know what you're thinking! You played what?! Yes, I retro gamer Cuteek played Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood and liked it! Why would this be such a shock? Well, the fact that 3D gaming graphics and navigation normally scare the Bejeezus out of me is why.

Left, right, up, down is my gaming mantra in 2D please. I even jumped on the COD Black Ops bandwagon last year and I just couldn't cope with the controls and it was enough to get me running back to my happy place that I call 'Alex Kidd in Miracle World'.

Why am I playing AC?
So, how did I get to be playing AC? Well, it was a Christmas gift for MCBF and since he didn't open it right away, I was curious and popped it into the XBOX. We also just got a deal on XBOX live so the console has been in use more this month.

AC Backstory

Although I haven't totally grasped the back story to Assassin's Creed, the cinematics (is that a word?) helped me get a grasp and I loved the way the controls are explained in game from the beginning. Climbing walls, following and running are the first few 'lessons'. I'm very far from completion but so far I've chased after a horse, taken a bath, jumped across rooftops, blown up enemies with big-ass canons and been for a swim.

You're probably thinking what the hell is this review? If you want a full technical type review then go to GameSpot, but if you are looking for a Cuteek style game review this is what I give you! Overall the game reminds me of a 'oldy worldy Quantum Leap', remember that show? Where the guy jumps into different bodies to help out with their life at a specific time, often to save someone's life? No? Youtube it, now.

The point of it all is, if you are a retro gamer and usually fear these types of games, give it a try, I'm so surprised that I really like it.

Happy New Year Cuteeks!
Hoping you all had a fantastic festiveness whatever your beliefs! Pull up a chair and let's have a coffee and catch up. Today is page 2 of 366 and probably as it's Monday, it will be the day that everyone signs gym memberships, starts eating healthy, stops smoking or gives up some other vice. It's not always easy to get motivated, but in August 2011 I managed to do more or less an hour of Zumba every night and it really made me feel and look better.

The point is, don't wait for the 1st of January or a Monday to say 'Right, let's do this'. My advice is get the right frame of mind, if you are trying to shape up or lose weight, picture your self on the beach, I'm sure that will get you off the sofa and in front of your Kinect in no time.

I'm so looking forward to the new Zumba Fitness Rush game exclusive to XBOX Kinect! I adore the first Zumba game but I think with the new tracks and graphics it will be a bit more motivating. I need to get into some kind of routine at the moment and fit my workout back into my day. Not sure if any of you Zumba fans have experienced the adrenaline rush after a workout (also known as Runner's High) but I have and I feel so much happier when I have been working out.

If you think I might sounds a bit 'meh' I've been full of cold the last week or so and it stopped me and MCBF from venturing out to 'the big party' on NYE, but in the end a lovely dinner and staying in with the Christmas tree lights on wasn't so bad, in fact it was just what the DR ordered.

I'm not going to bore you with a big long list of my New Year's Resolutions but they go along the lines of being tidier, blogging more, reading more, getting back into shape with Zumba....

Gingerbread Man Hairband

I bought this Gingerbread man hairband earlier in the year in a little seaside town in England called Lytham St. Annes. It was a freezing cold Sunday in January, the best day for a family walk and some chippy chips al fresco. I spotted this really cool shop called Room (I think) and they sold all kinds of things like bedroom decor and candles. They also had adorable hair accessories, one of them my above Gingerbread man hairband.

I was torn between that and one with a Yorkie/Scottie dog shape, but decided this one was more original. I haven't worn it for a while but it gets me in the festive mood and thought I would share! It's nice to look at something you bought as a reminder of the place you visited, then every time you wear it you will have a nice memory.

I'm so very happy! I just won 18 BP's or Brownie Points from the Casino Night Benefit event in Sorority Life. It took 2 spins and I was down to my last couple of BP's and then I spun 3 rings.

I have never bought Brownie Points (and never will) so I tend not to look at the Glam purchasable only with BP's, but I just had a quick look and I'm in love with the Monster High hairdo! You know the pink-streaked pigtails? Looks just like Draculaura's hair IMO lol.

Clothing Time Machine...

Today was surprisingly quiet in the local shopping centre and I felt drawn to Bershka (one of my favourite shops in the world) Why do I love Bershka? Let me see, maybe it's because they always seem to have a great range of logo and printed t-shirts, which is kind of my thing.

I'm quite quirky with my dress sense, last time I wore leggings was in the 90's which is exactly where they should stay. Maybe I should invent a clothing time machine! Yes, that's exactly what I'll do, send the crap back and bring the gorgeous vintage items from the 50's to the future.

Ok, I would send back skinny jeans while I was at it, such a lazy piece of clothing! My style can change with my mood and very often you will find me dressed as a rapper with a girly/geeky twist on it. Always with a logo t-shirt and more than likely some multi-coloured trainers too, but I absolutely LOVE 50's style dresses and prom dresses!

So here I am rambling... I adore Yorkshire Terriers! Fact! Cute, fluffy and can get away with anything. I didn't really want to buy anything until after the sales but this Yorkie wearing glasses communicated telepathically and MADE me buy it. It's supposed to be one of those oversize t-shirts but I haven't lost nearly 5 kilos (with Zumba+Just Dance) to cover up, so I bought a Small. The writing on it says 'You are my love' and it's actually a neon pink, it doesn't come across well in my snap but it's adorable plus it was only 7,99€!

Sorority Life Upgrade Gem

Many of my Sorority Life game sisters have been asking what the pink upgrade gem is for? Go to the Glam Tab, then click Style Upgrade, where you will see the new item upgrade feature in the game.

You will need to start collecting 'Basic outfits' from your newsfeed in Facebook, which so far are 'Plain Skirt and Turtleneck', 'Plain Marilyn Swimsuit' and 'Plain Tank and Shorts'. All of these outfits have starter charm and pop of 5, which as you upgrade level up and get fancier.

As you can see, to get the maximum pop and charm out of the outfits, you need Brownie Points but at least you can get to 15/15 without spending anything.

Keep an eye out on your sister's feeds to pick up the upgrade outfits and be quick because they seem pretty limited. You can gift your sisters the pink gem from the 'My House' tab or you can click in 'My Sister's Items' within the Style upgrade section and help them out, see which outfits they are trying to upgrade and so on.

As soon as you get to the upgrade section it's pretty self-explanatory what you have to do, but I know when I logged in earlier I was like WTH are these pretty pink gems? So, hope this helped a little and good luck collecting outfits and gems.

MUA Makeup Academy Wishlist

Since MUA Makeup announced this week they now have INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING on their site, I was super excited! If you haven't already heard the hype around this brand, exclusive to Superdrug, then listen up!

MUA - which stands for Make-Up Academy (also for Make-up Artist for those in the biz) is the latest brand to offer high quality makeup for low prices. If you are like me and have to have one in every colour, or really can't afford to spend 20€ on a mascara (that's another story involving Helena Rubenstein) then you should give it a go.

In the past I picked up a couple of MUA products at Superdrug when I was in UK, (probably lip gloss) I have a little addiction. So after the big announcement, I hop-skipped-jumped my way over to their shiny webpage, to make a little makeup wishlist!

Before I looked at any eye candy, I went straight to the shipping info link at the bottom of the site, to double check how much it would be to my area. I was pleasantly surprised as the shipping to Europe is £4.95 and International is £7.50. Not bad if you are getting a big haul ;)

So panic over and shipping prices in mind I picked out my favourite items that I hope Santa or The 3 Kings may gift me over the festive period! ;)

Smurf Christmas Tree!

I mentioned on Twitter a while back that I was planning a Smurf style Christmas tree.

Maybe this was an excuse to gorge myself on Happy Meals to get the said Smurf plushes but either way I managed to save 7 Smurf plushes (one has disappeared) and they have loops on their hats so they go perfectly on my mini Christmas tree. I took this photo with my iPad at night so it has come out slightly grainy but you get the picture!

I have gathered all my Lego mini figures, Blythe dolls and various other 'bits n bobs' underneath the tree, which will be photographed in the daylight looking festive.

Angry Birds Dress!

There are no words! Well maybe there are, I always have something to say. As a geek who happens to be cute, the mere thought of an Angry Birds dress just makes me fan girl all over the place..... BUT WOW!

Yes! Just please tell me that these Angry Bird ball gowns will be available someday soon? Maybe a green piggy prom style dress with lime green tutu netting? Come on Rovio take notes, what about a little Angry Blue Bird with some blue chiffon and nest hat?

Ok the lady wearing the Angry Red Bird is actually on her way to the Finnish State Gala, which I hear is a pretty big deal and she happens to be the wife of Rovio Exec too! (She's repping for the birds) Maybe her red carpet entrance should have involved a catapult lol.

Seriously though, if there are any ladies out there that don't wear dresses very much like myself, I'm sure this would change if there were Angry Bird dresses? Don't you think? Would you wear an Angry Birds dress?

Just Dance 3 XBOX Kinect Review

I've been meaning to do a review on Just Dance 3 for XBOX Kinect for a while now. I went out and got it on release day back in October but have neglected it a little, although I did tweet live when I played it for the first time!

Ok so, the first thing I did before I bought it was check out the track listing to see what songs I would be getting my groove on to. As a Zumba Fitness - Kinect fan, I was glad to see a latino tune on there called 'Boom'. I saw it on the trailer and thought I've heard that song before. It's in the soundtrack to 'Prada to Nada' if you are interested.

Features
There are loads of cool new features including Sweat Attack! You can just imagine the upgrade I'm getting here, going from Just Dance 2 on the Nintendo Wii to Just Dance 3 on XBOX kinect! To start with all of the menu selections are done with a swift swipe of the hand, to select songs and difficulty, much like in Dance Central.

There are plenty of features that I personally won't use, like the multiple player options, (aww poor me no friends lol) although for anyone wanting to get the family together over the holidays, weekend, sleepovers and so on, this is pretty cool, especially as there are different dance moves for each player as in 'This is Halloween'!

Another cool feature choreography option, where you can choose a song and you make the dance moves up and challenge your friends as demonstrated below by Toby Turner:

Sweat Attack, which is what I played tonight, groups together the high impact tracks so you can get your workout in and I'll be honest, after 25 minutes I was sweating more that I expected. It really put me in a good mood and got the frustrations out too!

Scoring System
As with the other Just Dance games, there is a scoring system with stars and this time 'mojo' which as you gain more of it, you unlock parts of the game and new songs. There is also a sweat mode, which looks like you have to activate every time you play, and you also gain XBOX achievements for sweating, singing out loud (I so wasn't aware of doing that) and there's even one for playing in the wee small hours!

I'll probably do a few follow up posts with my XBOX achievements and how I'm getting on, there are just so many cool options in the game it's hard to write about them all in one post.

Overall I give it a 10/10 and if you are thinking of buying this for anyone for Christmas, then do it! It's such a fun game and can be enjoyed by all ages.

Poor Starfish - death by killer icicle

This was filmed in the Antarctic as part of the BBC series Frozen Planet. It's nearly had 4 million hits on youtube!

'Thinking Crow'
Atop the mountains in La Palma earlier on in the month, this huge crow was just sitting there. This is one of the first photographs I took with my iPad.

'Real life Lego'
This was a garage wall on the side of a restaurant in La Palma called Restaurante Tíme. From up there, the view was amazing but this colourful wall also caught my eye and reminded me of Lego blocks.

'Coleus Plant'
This pink, purple and green leaved plant is called a Coleus (thanks to Google, I found out the name) I snapped this with my iPhone today when visiting some family and the colours were so vibrant, it was begging for a photograph!

How to make blue eyes stand out!

I've never been one shy to try out bright eyeshadows. Over the years I've had little phases, where one colour has been my obsession until it ran out. Most of the time I wear browns on my eyes as they make blue eyes pop. I read somewhere to use the colour opposite on the colour spectrum to your eyes, so that's why brown compliments.

Left eye: I've applied a green crayon style creme shadow to create a more night time smokey look. The green with black eyeliner and a load of mascara also brings out blue eyes.
Right eye: This rust shade with some blue eyeliner on the waterline creates a daytime pop.

When me and my BF visited Disneyland Paris a couple of years ago, we were lucky to experience 2 seasons - Halloween and Christmas. If you go around the 1st week in November it's a mixture of pumpkins and glittery snow.

If you have ever been to Disneyland, then you know there are plenty of opportunities to pick up Disney Merchandise in the little boutiques and in Disney Village. Manga Festival Las Palmas 2011

Something I've always wanted to do, is go to a comic con or some kind of cosplay event, but the ones I've heard of have always been too far away to go to. So, last week when I stumbled upon a small comic book store in Las Palmas called Moebius (they have So So Happy stuff yay!) I found a flyer in there for Festival del Manga Las Palmas.

Please just humour me in how excited I was, because things like this never seem to happen where I live, but it's my mission to discover them now. I would just die if there was ever a BarbieCon!!!

Anyway, it was a 3 day event and I could only visit on the last day (today) and I really wasn't sure what to expect but it was so much fun. There were videogame tournaments with Mario Smash Bros, Tekken, Mario Kart and other classics which were non stop. A video console cabinet was set up with handhelds and consoles such as the original Gameboy, GBA, Playstation One, Gamecube and the old SNES. It's funny to see those consoles in a cabinet on display, maybe I could do a similar display with my old consoles :)

In other corners there were people playing card games such as Magic the Gathering, which I have only heard of through Toby Turner videos but the players were really into the game so I appreciate the dedication they had.

Local comic book stores and specialist shops had little stalls with popular figurines, Jack Skellington bobbleheads, t-shirts, comics and fluffy manga ears. The one stall that grabbed my eye was Doll Armoire which sold handmade Blythe clothes, kawaii jewellery and sweet t-shirts. It was certainly one of the most sugary sweet stalls there and I picked up the cutest Blythe notebook.

The lovely lady behind the stall Miss T Sugar is on Etsy and her creations are adorable, check them out.

Of course the Cosplay contest stole the show! There were Pokemon, Naruto characters, Sailor Moon - even a trio of Ron Weasleys (and probably a lot more I've never heard of too) but the detail put into costumes was fantastic. I did LOL when I saw a girl wearing an Annoying Orange mask!

I've had a taster now and I'd love to cosplay in the next one but I need to do my research first. I just found out there is another Manga event on in Las Palmas this month so I might check that out too.

A Volcanic 30th Birthday

If I'm totally honest I really wasn't looking forward to turning 30. In my head I've been mentally 16-19 yrs old for a long time now. Probably the main thing I wasn't looking forward to was the expectations from other people, like when you get to a certain age and they expect you to be at certain stages in your life, even if it's not something you want to have.

But, my wonderful BF planned a fabulous 30th birthday holiday, which must have involved so much planning and my parents were even in on the surprise. We flew out to La Palma a little island in the Canary Islands, it's also known as 'La Isla Bonita' (I promise, it's sooo pretty!)

I'm hoping that you have heard of this island, maybe you have seen it in documentaries, it's supposedly going to have a giant landslide one day that will cause a mega tsunami and wipe out the east coast of America. (I don't think it will happen all in one go, maybe little bits will fall into the sea over time though)

La Palma is the most western island in the Canaries and as you can imagine is full of volcanic history, the last volcanic eruption was in 1971 at Volcan Teneguia (which we climbed round on my birthday!!) When I first moved to Spain, I was all about the sunbathing, taking as much sunlight in as I could. Beach? Yep, I was there on my day off. Pool? Yes please. Nowadays I much prefer exploring my surroundings, going out on adventures, seeing what's around me - there is so much to see in the world and so little time.

Here are a few snaps from my 30th birthday, which by the way do not do the island justice at all, it really is something to see with your own eyes, breathing it all in.

I will probably be adding more photos to Flickr, I took so many of them, but I wanted to add a few snaps here quickly. My Littlest Pet Shop Blythe doll also came along for the ride, so make sure you stay tuned to my doll site Pimp My Barbie for some great shots of her up in the clouds, in a volcanic crater, in a banana plantation and more. :D

P.s I was extremely lucky to get an iPad2 for my birthday and some diamond earrings! That is exactly what being a Cuteek cute geek is about. I felt like a Princess and had the best day EVER!

Stars on Trend

So I have this thing for star patterned clothes, hairbows and accessories in general. I have always loved stars so when I was reading Fashionista Barbie a while back and saw this post, I was excited. I'm not really bothered about being 'fashionable' as such, but the fact that stars where going to be a trend for the coming season made me happy, because such items would be available in shops.

In Primark I spotted (or starred) a lovely white blouse with black stars - which I snapped up.

I also have the most amazing blue cotton cardigan from Mango with white stars, which I wore on my birthday. I will add some pics later to this post as I am still in bed - it is Sunday morning after all.

I've just returned from a fantastic birthday break in the most mystical place ever which I will update about in the next post.

Blogging from my iPhone

This is the very first time I'm blogging from my iPhone using the official Blogger app.

I have to say it's pretty basic, not allowing me to see my previously used labels and it looks like I'm typing an email. The keyboard only works vertically so it's a bit time consuming typing with one finger.

I've added a photo from my photo album so let's see how it looks once published.

The verdict: Do not be put off by the basic orange publishing page. Yes it's basic but for blogging on the go it's a neat little app to have installed on your iPhone. ~~You can't change the size of the image~~ you can change it but from the main settings, you can always go in later from your computer to make adjustments.

I can see myself using this app a lot plus it's easy to switch over to other blogs you have in your account.

Sugar Skull Halloween Makeup Tutorial

I'm sick :( boohoo, so what I call my 'blogging brain' isn't working properly, I'm dosed up on medicine and Youtube is just about all I can manage.

But, I found some cute makeup tutorials for Halloween and thought I must post them, even if it takes me ages to type a few sentences.

Sugar skulls are used in Mexican tradition on Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) to adorn altars for the deceased members of the family.

The fiesta takes place the day after Halloween, but the sugar art itself is inspiration for Halloween makeup so I thought I would share some tutorials, plus a few inspirations from Flickr.

As you can see it's all about getting creative with this look and having fun with the colours too. If you have gems or crystals, attaching them with nail glue to your face will also create a pretty design. Some tutorials for this pretty skeleton makeup look have blackened eye sockets, but you can also use colour pigment pots for the circles. You can add flowers in your hair to complete the overall costume.

10 Things You Should Know about Spanish Weddings

So I was very happy to be a plus one at a wedding last night, but it was quite different to weddings I've been to before. This inspired me to put together this post of 10 Things You Should Know about Spanish Weddings:

1) The wedding takes place at night - obviously too hot to have it in the day.

2) Everyone is invited, an invitation gets sent to a household so all the generations of that family are invited.

3) There is no separate night and daytime event, it will start at night say 9pm and continue until around 5am so don't start yawning at midnight.

4) The food AND DRINK are free for everyone invited but funnily enough there is always plenty left over and nobody takes the mick.

5) Forget about getting in the church unless you are very close family/friends to the bride and groom. There will probably be a P.A system coming from inside the church so you can hear the vows, even if you don't see them.

6) There are no bridesmaids or a best man, there is a Godmother and Godfather of the wedding - these usually go on to become the Godfather/mother of the first born, they have similar duties to the Best Man and the Maid of Honor but different at the same time. There may be flower girls.

7) If you are standing right outside the church when the happy couple emerge, get ready to throw rice instead of confetti and be prepared to be pelted with it too, if you happen to be standing too close!

8) You should go and congratulate the newlyweds asap, because they will go round the WHOLE of the guests and have 2 kisses, which is time consuming when there are many people.

9) If you don't like crowds, take heed, there are likely to be more than 1,000 guests.

10) Expect to be waiting until midnight to see 'the first dance' if a lot of photographs are being taken - don't worry little plates of food will be passed around and there will be music to keep you entertained often with more modern music later on in the evening.

I often go for a Tim Burton inspired costume like I did here for Halloween one year as The Corpse Bride.

I was totally inspired by Kandee's version of Edward Scissorhands and I think you will agree she made a fantastic transformation into one of Johnny Depp's best characters.

A friend was recently showing me some holiday photographs from a cruise she took. Something I noticed, besides all the wonderful places she visited, was that they were real life, glossy photos in albums!

Maybe we take it for granted now. But, what happens one day if your computer crashes with all your once in a lifetime holiday photos on, or precious iPhone snaps disappear?

Fuerteventura, Robots and Sprinkles!

I first used Instagram on New Year's Eve of last year, but lately I have a new found love for it.

So here we have my week in instagrams, it's a brilliant app (free) and well worth downloading. I'm a fan of taking snaps of food, but it works for everything, you can even hook it up to post to your flickr, tumblr, twitter so you only have to upload once to your favourite social network.

Reading lights or Robot eyes?
I started my journey to Fuerteventura and the boat had these really quirky reading lights on the seats, which looked suspiciously like something out of Wall.E or Short Circuit if you're old school.

Beach!
The first proper view of the beach on arriving at the hotel in Fuerteventura. I was tired, sweaty and sleepy but this view from RIU Oliva Beach Resort just made it all better. It's situated in a natural park so it's pretty untouched apart from 2 hotels. There was a beautiful view of Los Lobos and Lanzarote from the hotel too, it just felt like a little slice of paradise.

Sprinkles
The hotel was all inclusive and may I say the food was delicious! The best bit was the dessert, they had an ice cream and sprinkle station where myself and a 10yr old had a competition on who could use the most sprinkles. She won.

On arriving back home from a fantastic break, my sprinkle fascination continued. There's a super cute donut place which sells donuts named after Simpsons characters. Here we have the 'Homer' - a yummy pink milkshake flavour frosted doughnut with, yep, sprinkles. Addicted much?

Sorority Life London!

Playdom are certainly on the ball, we haven't long finished our last Sorority Life 'Study Abroad' that we are off on another one, this time to London! (Are we following iJustine there?)

Anyway, there are so many more features to Sorority Life in general too, such as new mini games and Majors that I will probably post separately about. Sorority Life London requires a passport (as do all Study Abroad games), plus tube tickets and also red phone booth figurines. It looks like the Espressos are back as one has just dropped in the Pack for London event.

It's super exciting that we are 'going to London' even if it is only virtually. Looking forward to seeing more cute features of the game and don't forget if you are a Sorority Life VIP you get into London 24 hours before.

The Lying Game

If like me, you are having withdrawal symptoms from Pretty Little Liars, then you should check out The Lying Game.
Sara Shepard who penned the PLL novels also wrote The Lying Game, which is a new show to ABC Family.

The story is based on twins who, for some reason are separated at birth, one (Sutton) going to a very wealthy adoptive family and the other (Emma) to a less desirable foster home. Alexandra Chando plays both twins, in this suspense type show. If you enjoy the 'every episode is a cliffhanger' style of Pretty Little Liars, then you will probably enjoy this show too.

I've only just started watching, but it's quick to start and will pull you right in, check out the guy who looks like a young Johnny Depp!

Zumba Fitness Kinect: Energizing!

I have been a little quiet with the Zumba Fitness posts lately, but that doesn't mean I'm giving up. I'm still trooping on and playing as often as I can but obviously it's getting more difficult to earn XBOX achievements. I did however, get the 'Energizing' achievement for completing 25 workouts (G30) and 'Goals Tender' (G10) for customizing a calendar day.

I'm so ready for Zumba Fitness 2 now, I will probably pre-order it for the Nintendo Wii as it doesn't come out on XBOX til around next year so I've heard. I won't be able to wait that long!!!

The most famous shoes that were never made, have been created and 150 pairs are being auctioned off on eBay.

Together, we're going to help erase Parkinsons Disease from the space-time continuum.

New Blogger Dashboard

As I logged into my Blogger dashboard last night, I was very pleased to see they have finally rolled out some changes. This is my first time creating a post from the new layout, but I'm finding it a lot more spacious. You have basically a blank page with the post settings to the right hand side now. It's cleaner and less fussy, taking up the whole screen as opposed to a small box.

The other feature I was excited to see was the new 'Reading List' section of the main dashboard. Any blogs you subscribe to with your blogger account, using the follow feature for example - will show up in your list. I think it makes it so much easier to catch up on your favourite blogs I know I haven't visited some of them in a long time. Apologies for this fellow bloggers!

I feel since Facebook have dominated more and more, allowing groups and their own integrated commenting features that it caused 'The Death of the Blog Comment'. It kind of made me sad, it became much easier, faster and lazier to 'Like' someones whole blog post, than to read through and pick bits out - agree/disagree with points made and show some love.

There are plenty of benefits to leaving comments on blogs you read. One big benefit is having your blog linked into the comments when you add your name, this should not be an excuse to spam and just type 'cool' on every blog you stumble across. It should be a chance for the writer to say 'Oh this blog comment says maybe I should have added (xyz) into my post/they make a good point/they like my work/have similar interests - I'll check out their blog'. And so my friends it will all go back to how it was, hopefully! After all Facebook wasn't there at the beginning and it might not be there in a few years! Remember mySpace anyone?

Looks like I'm totally hating on Facebook but I'm not, just the fact that nobody seems to comment anymore...

Evil Veggies

I was walking round my local fruit and veg shop, which is all super fresh and straight from the farm. You find all kinds of weird vegetables in their, in bizarre shapes too. Check out these strange evil veggies I found!

The one on the top right hand corner has a wicked smile and reminds me of the Pumpkin King 'Jack Skellington' from The Nightmare Before Christmas.

These evil veggies are actually called kohlrabi (German turnip) and are purple in colour. (I instagramed them to make them look more evil).

There, you learn something new everyday!

BEAUTY TIP #2: Stay Put Pigment Eyeshadow

I picked up this makeup tip whilst watching one of those makeover shows on tv. The girl getting the makeover was having a "disco eye" in a gold pigment or eye dust.

The makeup artist mentioned a great tip to get pigments to stay in place and all you need is a clear mascara.

Get enough on the back of your hand with the wand to smooth onto your eyelids and then just press the pigment shadow onto the eyelid. You will instantly notice a difference in using it wet, the colour will pop and it will stick to the eyelid much longer than using it dry.

Most makeup companies do their own version of eyeshadow pigments and the prices can vary. I picked some up in Primark not long ago in a sale and the pigment pots were reduced down to 50p each! You can also get them from SuperDrug in the UK from a great range called Barry M for about £4.59 a pot. NYX Cosmetics do a great range of loose pearl eyeshadow which you can pick up for $11.69.

Zumba Fitness 2 Game - Coming Soon!

Majesco Entertainment announced Zumba Fitness 2 will be released 8th November 2011 for Nintendo Wii and then early 2012 for a second platform.

Hopefully the second platform will be Xbox, otherwise I will be buying it for my Wii, due to terrible impatience.

Exciting things are on the way for Zumba Fitness 2, including hot new tracks by chart topping artists such as Mr.305 himself: Pitbull, with his hot new Zumba track 'Pause', Pussycat Dolls' Nicole Scherzinger with a Zumba remix of 'Poison' plus 'We no Speak Americano' by Yolanda Be Cool & DCup.

Word is there are going to be a ton of new features including a calorie counter, which I know many, many players have been missing from Zumba 1. There will also be a customizable section in which you pick the tracks you want to workout to.

For the first time, players can customize their own class with their favorite routines, follow their improvement through an all new Progress tracker and track calories burned.

Well done Majesco, you are listening to your gamers!

I'm a Zumbathon Hero don't you know? Yesterday I earned a whopping 40G points on Xbox achievements by completing Zumbathon on 'Hard Difficulty'.

It's been pretty hot here, so it was tough getting the motivation to do a workout, but glad I got there in the end. A teensy tiny bit of weightloss has happened, after 2 weeks of intense playing, but more importantly I'm getting a waist and my clothes are fitting differently. :)

Zumba Fitness Kinect: Master Jammer

Well what a week! As you can see I achieved some new Xbox achievements in the last few days. I did have a day off from working out this week, I plan on keeping to 6 days workout and I'm glad I had a rest as my legs felt so heavy.

For an easy 10G points customize a recurring week on the workout menu in Zumba. I've also just started playing the individual songs, if you do this make sure to do the warm up and cool downs as they are in there too, it will make you feel so much better if you do.

I'm still really enjoying Zumba for Kinect and even looking into a local class in my village, just to see what it's like. I think the brilliant thing about Zumba fitness game is that it's made me feel a bit more confident in checking out a real class, (plus I've toned up) and for those who already go, it would be a great 'filler' for those days when you can't attend a class.

Google+ games

Do you have your Google+ account yet? I have mine but very rarely use it, so the news of Google+ games has excited the geek in me. As we all know social network Facebook offers a gazillion games ranging from Sorority Life to Bejewelled to Farmville etc, which keep people coming back, logging on to see their crops, jewels and mobs day after day.

Maybe the news of Google+ games will have more users logging in daily to play..... wait for it.... ANGRY BIRDS! Yay, Google you have certainly got it right by getting Rovio to step on board there.

Playdom and Zynga are also on the Google+ games team, with City of Wonder and Poker - so this will surely entice more developers.

Another great thing about Google+ games is that if you aren't interested in the games and purely want your Google+ account for networking, you can switch the games feature off!

Google started rolling out the new games feature yesterday on 11th August, so if you don't have the feature yet, it's probably on it's way soon to your dashboard.

What Google+ games are you most excited about? I know I will be playing even more Angry Birds than usual. (If that's possible!)

80's Board Games

I took a little trip down memory lane today when one of my Twitter friends, @Everything80sUk posted this photo of a Fisher Price cassette player.

Do you remember this guys? Well, it got me thinking about all the cool 80's board games that used to be out. Remembering times without internet, (as much as I love it) the rainy days with a board game out on the kitchen table.

So I am trying desperately to remember a game I used to have, around 1985 which was like a square/rectangular base like operation, but there were yellow discs with pegs to lift them out. If you weren't careful the spring would trigger and they would fly out everywhere. (One of the reasons my Mum would hoover them up or we would find them under the sofa the Christmas after.) :D

Zumba Fitness Kinect: Beto Shuffler

Apparently I'm a Beto Shuffler! (Beto Perez is the creator of Zumba by the way) - He was teaching a fitness class and forgot his music, so he had to use one of his CD's that was in his car, which was full of Latin music. What a great story! I would have loved to be in that class, I bet everyone was like 'What the Dumbledore?!'

Ok so the Zumbathon I completed last night was pretty tough, at some point I even slipped on my own sweat that had dripped on the floor!

But, alas Just Dance 2 peeps Ubisoft were supposed to be sending me some sweatbands, plus some to give away in a competition, but I'm still waiting many months later. (frowny face)

So Ubisoft, Majesco - if you would like me to continue with these Gaming for Fitness posts then you better send me some sweatbands ASAP before I fall! :D (Pretty please)

Zumba Fitness Kinect: Unlocked Zumbathon Class

It's getting tough but it's still fun, I completed all of the 45 minute expert classes on Zumba Kinect for Xbox so I got my 'Feel the Heat' achievement.

I've also unlocked the Zumbathon, which is an hour long and I hope to try that out tonight. Still no weight loss, but I'm feeling great and as someone pointed out to me on a fitness forum, I should really wait a month to notice any big differences.

Rainbow tipped hair FTW!

I've always been a fan of coloured streaks in my hair, you will probably know this if you read the Crazy about Makeup category. So when the dip dye fashion started with more natural colours, it was only a matter of time before someone made it a bit more funky.

Lauren Conrad of The Hills tweeted a photo out and blogged a 'how to' about her rainbow tipped hair that would have made a My Little Pony jealous.

I followed Lauren's how to dip dye tutorial, but applied it to bright blonde extensions instead of my own hair. As I was using synthetic extensions, I just used coloured Sharpie pens to get the same effect.

Nicki Minaj takes rainbow hair to the next level and Kate Bosworth rocks blonde hair with green tips.

No stranger to funky hair, Cher Lloyd fashions half a shave head with her pink tipped hair and still looks cute. How could I post this without mentioning Lady Gaga? Here she is glamming it up in her Telephone yellow/blonde dip dye wig.

What do you think of this fun trend? If you are going to try it out, I'd say do it now, while the Summer is still here. It will be interesting to see if there is a more toned down version of this for the Fall, maybe darker colours?

Zumba Fitness Kinect: Zumba Enthusiast

Ok, this is becoming an addiction now! I've played Zumba Kinect like everyday for 5 days now, as you you can see from my Xbox achievements above. It's even getting to the point where I am trying to find the songs from the Zumba game on Youtube and I find myself jigging round the house and the moves are like sticking in my head.

Still no weight loss, but I do feel different - like I have more stamina than the start and really can't wait to switch my Xbox on in the afternoon.

198, 199.... 200! Wow, this is the 200th post on Cuteek.com! I really can't believe it, although Cuteek has been going for quite a few years, if you have been around since then you will know I was a victim of severe hacking in which I lost a large chunk of my blog, which at the time was PR 4, so no, I wasn't best happy.

But, here we are the big 200! I was thinking what to do for this post and because I blog nearly everyday lately, it was too short notice to put together a contest, but, I have decided to do some contests in the future and hopefully giveaway some cool stuff.

Zumba Fitness Kinect: Zumbalicious and Bellydance Bump

Don't you just love being rewarded for your hard work? I'm really into getting these Xbox awards, I think they are a great motivator to improve my fitness gaming.

Some easy awards to grab are from the tutorials area of Zumba Fitness Kinect like the Bellydance Bump, even if you know all the moves head over there and get your easy awards. Sometimes it helps too, as the steps are broken down and if you are having problems with any of them, you can have a good practice.

The other award I received was Zumbalicious for completing all 4 Intermediate classes on the punchcard.

I also scored 697 which is only 3 points less than the last session, so close and very frustrating, why couldn't I have scored 701. Oh, well there's always tomorrow.

Your Shape Fitness Evolved: 800 Calories Award

So as you know if you follow my fitness gaming, I've played quite a bit of Zumba Fitness for the Kinect in the last week or so. I feel a lot healthier but am yet to see weight loss, I think I'm building muscle and toning though.

To shake it up a little and stop me from becoming bored, I started back up with Your Shape Fitness Evolved also on XBOX. I admit I have my favourite classes and that's the great thing about Your Shape, that you can totally customise your workout. So tonight I completed the last few classes of Cardio Boxing, which unlocked them all, then I went right through the Gold Cardio Boxing workout.

Previously to playing I went online to the official Your Shape website, and signed up for the August event, so I can check how many calories I burn this month in comparison to everyone else in the world, how cool is that?

Then yippee, I got my 800 calories award AND my 'Be part of the community' award for joining in.

Ren and Stimpy T-shirts

Who remembers 90's cartoon 'Ren and Stimpy'? It was supposed to be for kids but in 'Spongebob-esque' style it's a hit with the adults too, thanks to the ambiguous humour.

I'm really into unique, retro t-shirts at the moment, trying to find ones that make people go oh 'I love your t-shirt!' just the other week I ordered this Junk Food Garbage Pail Kids tee, which I am yet to wear.

Zumba Fitness Kinect: 45 minute class

I just wanted to share a screenshot and a few words about my first attempt at the 45 minute Zumba Fitness class on Xbox kinect. After playing for about a week on 20 minutes, easy mode, it was time to step it up a notch if I was to achieve at least something by the time August is over.

45 minutes seems a bit overwhelming at first but after building up to it, it wasn't so bad, although I was clock watching after 20 minutes. I pushed through some barriers and feel like I've worked now, my abs and back are feeling tight.

I also found some ankle/wrist weights (bright pink may I add) that I may add to my workout, I'll let you know.

ELF Spf 45 Sunscreen Uva/uvb Protection Makeup

I love love love the fact that e.l.f. SPF 45 Sunscreen is in powder form! What a fabulous idea? It's a light translucent powder best applied with a Kabuki brush rather than the powder poof applicator provided.

Well the E.L.F powder is SPF 45, it's $6/6.50€ and has some brilliant reviews, so yes I ordered it!

As I live in a hot country, I've been looking for a decent SPF for a while now, especially as I have melasma too. You would think hot countries have a big selection of these things? No!

My problems with other sunscreens:
The only stuff that I can afford has been supermarket stuff and it has been a low factor. One cream felt nice on and was around 6€ but, was only SPF 4! That's certainly not enough, even in a place where the sun never comes out. The other product I found was a tinted facial suncream, SPF 50, but it burns my eyes! What good is it if you can't put it on your eyelids? The colour also went on very streaky.

For $6/6,50€, I thought I'm going to try this E.L.F product, I like the idea of a powder form SPF and not a greasy based lotion. E.L.F deliver to USA and Canada and now other countries too so if you live elsewhere try eBay. I bought mine on eBay before E.L.F opened up to Spain.

Why I love E.L.F SPF 45 Sunscreen?
It's just totally right for my face in everyway, it comes in one shade and takes that horrible shine away which I get with lotion sunscreens. I wear it every single day on the top of my SPF 10 moisturiser and even at night because I like it so much for the coverage.
Like I mentioned above, it's best to use a Kabuki brush, which you can also buy on E.L.F's website or you can grab them from Primark for about 1€. I give a few coats of the powder, really buffering it into my face. I use it on the beach, walking, playing sports everywhere. Yes, I still do sweat but not as much as with a greasy lotion SPF.

I would say the only downside to ELF SPF 45 was the size of the packaging, it's very stylish looking but bulky so make sure you have space in your makeup bag. Also, when I first opened the tub I was alarmed at how little product it had, but it goes a hell of a long way. I just realized I've had mine a whole year and there's still plenty left.

Spongebob Makes Me Happy

There's something very magical about a worldwide brand that not only makes kagillions (yes that's a word) of monies but can also bring a smile to almost any face. Spongebob Squarepants, krabby patty flipper and spreader of smiles. I don't know what it is about him, if I see any kind of merchandise with Spongebob's face on, it just breaks me into a smile. That's why I wear my Spongebob t-shirt when I'm sad.

I was having the worst day last week, really sad boohoo day, had to go to the home improvement store, which I normally love but because of the bad day I was all antsy. So I couldn't wait to get out of there and who should be standing right outside the shop, but Spongebob himself.

Of course this wasn't the real Spongebob as the real one was busy down in his underwater town of Bikini Bottom, but this friendly street performer really made my day. I send you good karma, Spongebob performer.

Zumba Fitness Kinect: Afterglow and Exhilarating!

After being ill for what seems like eons, I've got back into the fitness groove and played Zumba Kinect. I went past my motivation point so I really did have to drag my butt out of my comfy seat and get moving.

Like I said in my Zumba Fitness review you will need A LOT of self motivation.

My get up and go was rewarded when I got these new Zumba achievements tonight:

Afterglow - Achieved a Score of 500 or Higher in an offline, single-player game
Exhilarating! - Completed 10 Workouts

I've been playing on Easy mode since I bought the game, so I thought I would turn it up to medium, but still play on 20 minutes beginner to get back into it.

How to change difficult on Zumba Fitness Kinect?
Simple, go to the menu make sure you are all logged in. Select edit player and there is an option called difficulty, which you can pick from easy, medium and hard. When I was playing on easy I didn't achieve higher than around 490 on the scoreboard, so you might want to change it to get more awards.

I love Buttons

My earliest button memories are of this big, orange plastic tub that we used to have and I would sit for hours playing with them, looking at the different textures, colours and shapes. If I found any that matched up I would group them together, everything from elephant buttons to buttons shaped like anchors.

It was fun to imagine where the buttons came from, like the big blingy buttons all glitz and glam - did they once belong to a rich, shoulder pad wearing lady of leisure in the 80's?

The orange tub of buttons has been lost over the years but I still remember it fondly. I've since found out that one of my Aunties has a button phobia! I didn't think there could be such a fear, it's not something you can avoid like you could a snake phobia (which I have).

What are your thoughts on buttons? Any button memories or comments?

Sorority Life: Casablanca is open to VIPS

Great news for Sorority Life VIPS, the new Study Abroad destination 'Casablanca' is open! It's early where I am right now and I think it must have reset when I was sleeping, exactly why I don't bother paying for VIP.

Primark Prime of Your Life Face Primer Review

I've always wanted to try a primer since I heard about Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion, but saw that it wasn't in my budget.

On a trip to the Uk in the Summer, I noticed that Primark did their own face primer as well as other fab beauty products. 'Prime of your Life' face primer was on sale for around £1.00 so as I was finishing my spree, I threw one into my basket. The chunky packaging makes it look quite expensive and on the box part that came with it the tagline was 'has she or hasn't she?' something like that.

This primer claims to be hypo-allergenic and I can usually put most things on my face so this was a bonus really as I wanted to use it on my eyelids mainly for helping dazzle dusts and pigments pop.

I have noticed that when I applied it all over my face, it gave a very nice dewy look and there were some pink pigments in it which you have to make sure are rubbed in properly. It's not tacky on the skin and has a nice pearlized effect.

Overall I'm very impressed with Primark's own beauty range so I will be buying this product again, totally recommend it to you, if you are looking for a good makeup base or just a product to give you a glow.

If I had to give one downside to it, it would be the lack of sunscreen in it. If it has some sun protection like SPF15 I would wear it on it's own everyday, but for a cheap addition to the makeup bag I'm not complaining.

Playdom have done it again, this time with RPG game Deep Realms. Take a look at the trailer below for the lowdown on the game. They play on the fact that there have been plenty of 'cuddly' farm games in the past but now, the player is on a quest complete with action fighting. I haven't played very many RPG's before but if you like Pokemon you may enjoy this!

Sorority Life: Casablanca - New Study Abroad Destination!

No sooner had Study Abroad Rio finished, we had Study Abroad Beijing in Sorority Life. I was pretty sad because it felt like we had less time to complete Beijing and so I went and spent up all of my money on Beijing glam and concentrated in Campus, only to log in a few days later and see that it had been extended! Aggh rant over!

The good news is, that very soon a new SL 'Study Abroad' will be open called Casablanca! Already we are able to collect the passports, caravan tickets, Casablanca postcards. We will also need Beijing work visas.

The new destination will be open to VIPS 24 hours before everyone else, which doesn't bother me as reset is always when I'm sleeping so VIP is a waste of time for me.

Halloween Makeup Tips

Halloween is always upon us like 'boom' so instead of panicking last minute looking to see where that eyeliner is or fake lashes, be prepared.

What can you do before the party?

Nails are a good place to start, even if you have a really spooky costume you should do some sassy nails to get you into the Halloween spirit. Depending on your costume for the big night, pick your colours accordingly.
File any snags, slick on a base coat, nude polish or go for some dramatic talons like in the image from Dianade on Flickr.

Prepare your makeup:
Get all the makeup you need and put them on your dressing table or makeup area, making sure Special FX makeup and face paints are not out of date. If you have a new product make sure you do an allergy test ahead of time. Things like face paint that cover the whole face or body will cause you problems in the middle of a party if you have any allergies to it.

Always follow the instructions on the box or tub and try to go for a decent type of face paint and not a cheap grease paint. I recommend Snazaroo Face and Body Make-up, it's what we used on children when I worked as a hotel entertainer and is not tested on animals.

If you are planning on a totally different look or dramatic stage style Halloween makeup, then do some research online. Youtube is your friend and you will get many makeup tutorials and ideas from Makeup Gurus/experts on there. When I did my Corpse Bride makeup look a couple of years ago, I watched hours of tutorials until I was sure and then as I was applying I watched at the same time. Have a practice, so you are less stressed on Halloween night.

Finally, gather all your props together such as witch's broom, tiara, veil and things like wigs the last thing you want to do is be getting anxious about where you put your cauldron handbag or fangs. Have a wicked and wonderful Halloween this year and enjoy!

Kidney Pains eww!

Hey Cuteeks, I'm super sorry about not blogging much these days. I had a brilliant trip to England at the beginning of the month, which I will blog about more asap. I'm currently ill with kidney pains and ended up in A&E a couple nights ago on a IV drip for the pain. Apparently I had renal colic which is a pain commonly caused by kidney stones.

I'm feeling super nauseous and have bad Mario fireball style kidney pain, plus waiting for my appointment this week to see how to proceed.

In between episodes of severe pain, I've been watching Toby Turner's Lazy Vlogs and playing too much Gardens of Time on Facebook, which has been keeping me calm really, especially with that nice flute music.

What have you guys been doing?

Liverpool: Vintage Fair, 50's Diner and Paul's Boutique

A few weeks ago I took a trip to Liverpool in UK, I attended my first EVER vintage retro fair, found a fab 50's diner and window shopped until I dropped.

Leaf on Bold Street is actually a very chic tea shop, somewhere to escape the hustle and bustle of the high street, with a bookish feel. Every last Sunday of the month, they hold a vintage fair upstairs with FREE entrance from 11am-5pm

The fair was brimming with goodies from original 70's playsuits to polymer clay charms from Pink Angel Designs and one stall had a rail filled with sequinned clothing.

Having a little chat to some of the stall holders and creators it was obvious they really are vintage lovers and put their hearts into any creations.

I didn't purchase anything as there was just so much to choose from and I don't think I could fit it all in my luggage, so I made sure to grab business cards and website addresses - Kelly Allum of Pink Angel Designs even ships as far as Israel so make sure to check out her retro goodies.

Rockerfellas 50's Diner on Bold Street Liverpool

Just a few skips and a jump away from the retro fair, there is a 50's Diner called Rockerfellas! We were greeted by a bubbly waitress in 50's attire who sat us down in a red and white booth and talked us through the menus. We decided on the Nachos to share and I had the most tasty 'spicy bean' burger which had delicious guacamole, with an ice cold Coke on the side.

My companions enjoyed American Cream Soda, the house shakes were recommended but we are using that as an excuse to go back again. If you are looking for somewhere a bit different and you enjoy 50's ambiance, music and deco you will love it!

A sneaky window shop in Cult, Liverpool One and I spied a black/hot pink Paul's Boutique Barbie bag. PB bags are super popular but the Barbie one gives it a little more girl power.

The Corpse Bride Makeup Tutorial

So Happy Halloween for yesterday everyone, I went out with friends and celebrated my birthday also last night.
I considered dressing as The Wicked Witch from Wizard of Oz again but wanted to try something different. I really love the style of Tim Burton so I thought it would be a challenge to try The Corpse Bride. My mum helped me out with the costume, for which I am very grateful.

I know there maybe a few more people out for Halloween tonight with it falling on a weekend so let me share my costume, makeup and inspirations and also some great video tutorials that helped a great deal.

Corpse Bride Makeup Tutorial - I mainly used this tutorial, it helped a lot with the shading!

I grabbed an overall inspiration from MissChievous' version of the Corpse Bride:

So here is the finished product. Overall I am quite happy with the shading, for people who don't have the products used in the tutorials, do not worry and just improvise with the makeup and products you have. I wish I had bought some fake lashes though, especially for the bottom lash line. I didn't have a liquid liner but probably it would give a better effect.
